About the Role

We need a frontend engineer who understands that great UX isn't about following design trends — it's about making complex things feel simple. You've built interfaces that handle large datasets, care deeply about performance, and know the difference between "works on my machine" and "works in production." You'll be designing and building the user-facing parts of our location intelligence platform. This means rendering millions of map features in the browser with fluid interactivity, and building investigation workflows that analysts actually want to use.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement responsive, performant UIs for data visualization and geospatial applications
  • Build interactive mapping interfaces using WebGL, Canvas, and modern map libraries
  • Optimize rendering performance for large-scale datasets (millions of points, real-time updates)
  • Work closely with backend engineers to design efficient data loading and caching strategies
  • Implement comprehensive component libraries and design systems
  • Write semantic, accessible HTML/CSS that works across browsers and devices
  • Collaborate with product and design to iterate on user experience

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of frontend development experience with complex, data-heavy applications
  • Expert-level proficiency in modern frontend frameworks and TypeScript
  • Strong understanding of browser rendering, performance optimization, and profiling
  • Experience with data visualization and mapping libraries
  • Solid grasp of CSS architecture, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility
  • Track record of building and shipping production applications
  • Ability to work independently and make pragmatic technical decisions
  • US work authorization (we cannot sponsor visas at this time)

Nice to Have

  • +Experience building geospatial or mapping applications
  • +Background in WebGL, Canvas, or other hardware-accelerated rendering
  • +Familiarity with modern build tooling and bundle optimization
  • +Experience with advanced state management patterns
  • +Contributions to visualization or mapping open source projects
  • +Design skills or experience working closely with designers

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary with meaningful equity
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Unlimited PTO (we actually encourage you to use it)
  • Remote work with flexible hours
  • Small team where your work directly impacts the product
