We're seeking a highly technical and operationally strong Accounting Manager to help scale our accounting function in our fast-growing Insurtech environment . This role will strengthen close execution, enhance internal controls, support technical accounting initiatives, and drive audit ready financial operations as the organization continues to grow and evolve. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and brings a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP, process improvement, and team leadership.

Reporting directly to the VP, Accounting & Controller, you will work closely with Finance, Engineering, People Operations , Legal to support accurate financial reporting, operational scalability, audit readiness, and cross-functional business initiatives.

Please note for this role we are looking for this person to be able to work hybrid from our Austin, Texas Headquarters

What You’ll Do:

Close, Controls, and Financial Integrity

  • Manage and review monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities

  • Drive timely and accurate month-end close execution while continuously improving close processes, documentation, and review procedures

  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP

  • Strengthen documentation, review controls, and audit-ready support across the accounting function

  • Support preparation of financial statement footnotes and disclosures

Audit, Compliance, and Risk Management

  • Serve as the key day-to-day contact for external auditors and support audit coordination, PBC management, and audit support activities

  • Coordinate annual financial statement audit, 401(k) audit support, and SOC review documentation

  • Prepare accounting support schedules, process documentation, and policy support materials

  • Support the continued enhancement of internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting processes

Cross-Functional Partnership & Execution Support

  • Collaborate with FP&A on forecasting, capitalization, and variance analysis

  • Partner with Engineering and Product on development cost classification

  • Support People Team on payroll, equity, and benefits accounting

Leadership and Team Development

  • Provide day-to-day mentorship and elevate technical depth, documentation rigor, and ownership across the accounting function

  • Navigate shifting priorities with agility, while maintaining a collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset

  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and scalable accounting operations, including thoughtful use of emerging technologies and AI-enabled tools where appropriate

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and solutions-driven accounting professional who combines strong technical accounting capabilities with operational execution and leadership skills. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment and can balance accuracy, collaboration, and adaptability while supporting a growing organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting

  • Prior experience leading or managing accounting personnel

  • Experience supporting audits and preparing audit-ready documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA strongly preferred

  • Experience in SaaS, fintech, or Insurtech environments

  • Prior experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, purchases accounting, or post-close integration

  • Prior management experience

  • Exposure to capitalized software development costs

  • Familiarity with AI-powered tools and technologies applied to accounting, finance operations, workflow automation, reconciliations, or anomaly detection

  • Familiarity with ERP and reporting systems such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Workday, or BI tools

The base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $145,000 per year. The final salary amount will be determined based on a variety of factors, including experience, skills, internal equity, and insights gained throughout the interview process
