As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will enhance our infrastructure, ensure high availability, and enable our engineering teams to deliver high-quality products efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, a passion for automation, and a drive for improving processes and systems. You will also play a vital role in taking projects from spec to concept and building them with high-quality, creative, simple, and sophisticated solutions. You should be ready to take ownership and be thrilled about having broad responsibilities within a fast-growing company.

Location:

While we are open to remote work across the contingent US, we are still establishing our company to support work in all states! We are set up to support employees who want to be fully remote, in-office only or a mix of the two.

Please note: We will not support hiring based in California, Massachusetts, or New Jersey.

What You'll Do:

• Work with new technology to build a flexible hosting & development platform

• Maintain and scale The Zebra's infrastructure, build, release, and production systems

• Lead projects that make positive direct impacts on the business or internal workflows

• Create and maintain automated tools to improve the developer experience

• Work with the engineering teams to maintain uptime and quickly diagnose and remedy production issues

• Share on-call responsibilities

• Track and update tasks/projects using agile methodology in Jira

• Mentor product developers about the best ways to code for platform stability, scalability, reliability, and security

What We're Looking For:

As we evaluate candidates across all roles, we look for folks with a strong sense of ownership, great communication and collaboration skills, and a dedication to continuous improvement.

• 5-7 years of experience within a CloudOps, Platform, DevOps, SRE, or a similar role.

• The ideal candidate has experience building and supporting web infrastructure and understands how to keep it running, secure, and maintainable.

• Technical

  • Extensive experience with building and supporting Helm, Docker, and Kubernetes

  • Terraform experience

  • AWS (Amazon Web Services)experience. The ideal candidate can jump right into our environment (EKS, S3, EC2, CloudWatch, IAM, CLI, and more)

  • Able to code in Python or Javascript, script in Bash, modify GoLang

  • Experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab Jobs\Pipelines or GitHub Actions within a specified workflow pattern

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills across application, database, and cloud infrastructure

• Behavioral:

  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA, product managers, and operations.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable with rapid change and adapting to new technologies, processes, and methodologies.

  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail, ensuring systems are configured and operating correctly. Able to identify potential issues before they become critical problems.

Experience that will Impress the Heck Out of Us:

• Deep understanding of running web applications on Kubernetes

• Proficiency with data stores, such as Postgres

• Experience building efficient Gitlab Pipelines and Jobs

• Experience achieving/maintaining SOC 2 compliance

• Cloudflare experience

Interview Process:

1. Recruiter Screen: An initial conversation to discuss your background, experience, and interest in the role.

2. Hiring Manager Screen: A detailed discussion with the hiring manager to delve deeper into your technical skills and alignment with the team.

3. Final Panel Interview: A comprehensive interview with team members and leadership to assess cultural fit and technical proficiency. This will include a technical interview & behavioral interview.
