Overview of Job/Team:

Are you a law student with a passion for cybersecurity, data privacy, and regulatory compliance? SpyCloud’s Legal & Compliance team is looking for a Legal Intern to contribute to high-impact projects that support our global operations. This internship offers hands-on experience in comparative legal research, data privacy compliance, and security incident response, providing a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of law and cybersecurity technology.

As a Legal Intern, you will work closely with in-house counsel and cross-functional teams, gaining practical insights into the legal challenges faced by a cybersecurity company.

What You'll Do:

  • Work on real-world legal projects such as:
    • Researching variations in local laws applicable to SpyCloud’s operations and help compile a jurisdiction-specific legal reference guide
    • Creating a compliance matrix summarizing U.S. data privacy and breach notification laws, helping to monitor legal developments.
    • Assisting in maintaining SpyCloud’s internal database tracking data breach notification obligations for customers
  • Work with the commercial counseling, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), and security teams to understand real-world applications of cybersecurity law.
  • Gain exposure to contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools, compliance monitoring platforms, and legal research databases.
  • Participate in team meetings, shadow in-house attorneys, and receive hands-on mentorship throughout the summer.

Requirements:

  • Current law student (1L or 2L) with strong research and analytical skills.
  • Interest in cybersecurity, data privacy, technology law, or regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to synthesize complex legal information into clear, business-friendly guidance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, or cybersecurity frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST) is a plus but not required.
