Role Overview: The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying frontend components and features as part of the Portals Team. This role requires a proactive engineer capable of introducing new designs and making decisive technical decisions. This is a local role working alongside a hybrid workforce for approximately 40 hours per week.

Key Performance Responsibilities:

Frontend Development:

    • Design, develop, test, and deploy new frontend components and features using React.
    • Ensure components are well-tested and can be deployed successfully across multiple applications.

Performance Indicators:

    • High-quality, well-tested React components developed and deployed.
    • Successful integration and functionality across multiple applications.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work as part of a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality product roadmap items on time.
    • Participate in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with team members.

Performance Indicators:

    • Timely delivery of product roadmap items.
    • Strong collaboration and effective communication with cross-functional teams.

Project Management:

    • Break down large projects into smaller, manageable tasks that can be delegated.
    • Balance delivering product roadmap items with production support responsibilities.

Performance Indicators:

    • Efficient project management and task delegation.
    • Balanced focus on product development and production support.

Process Improvement:

    • Adopt existing team practices and recommend improvements as needed.
    • Continuously evaluate and enhance development processes to improve efficiency and quality.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience:
    • At least 7 years of professional experience delivering high-quality production software.
    • Strong working knowledge of React and front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
    • Experience with a relational database.
    • Experience with an MVC web framework (e.g., Django, Flask, Pyramid).
    • Experience working with REST APIs and AWS.
    • Experience with a version control system, preferably Git.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Skills:
    • Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
    • Proactive and capable of making decisive technical decisions.
    • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
