With over 10 years of experience in backend development, you have a proven track record in startup and product-based company environments and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic settings.

You remain hands-on with coding, ensuring architectural excellence while mentoring and guiding engineering teams. Your deep expertise in backend technologies, combined with strategic leadership, enables you to drive innovation and deliver high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities

Lead and scale the engineering team to build and maintain a high-performance SaaS platform.
Stay actively involved in coding, design reviews, and architecture decisions to ensure technical excellence.
Define and drive the engineering roadmap, aligning with business goals and product Strategies.
Establish best practices for software development, deployment, and DevOps processes.
Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Ensure system scalability, performance, and security while managing cloud infrastructure and backend services.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, and Business, to deliver impactful features.
Stay updated with emerging technologies and implement relevant innovations to enhance Ontic’s SaaS offerings.
Drive technical discussions, resolve challenges, and make key architectural decisions.
Maintain high standards for software quality through code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
Ability to drive complex engineering projects with multiple stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of experience in backend engineering with strong expertise in SaaS platforms.
Proven experience working in fast-paced startups and product-based companies, leading engineering teams.
Strong expertise in backend technologies, particularly Java and Spring Boot.
Strong architectural and system design skills, with experience in scalable and distributed systems.
Deep understanding of scalability, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and API design.
Strong experience with databases such as MongoDB, Elastic search, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
Deep knowledge of messaging and event-driven systems like Kafka.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and micro services architecture.
Deep understanding of database management, caching mechanisms, and API development.
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with excellent communication skills.
Experience in compliance, security, and DevOps best practices.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to balance technical depth with business needs, driving engineering excellence.
