Who You Are
We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Management Director (Contract-to-Hire) with a specialized focus on DevOps to lead and oversee our dedicated deployment initiatives across the United States.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep, hands-on understanding of DevOps infrastructure, strategic planning, implementation, and delivery models—particularly in large-scale environments. This individual will play a critical role in shaping and executing our DevOps strategy, driving operational excellence, and ensuring alignment between engineering, product, and customer success teams.
Success in this role requires exceptional technical, communication, analytical, and project management skills, along with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, client-focused environment. While initial responsibilities will center on specific client deployments, the scope will expand over time to include additional enterprise customers within this domain.
Key Responsibilities
Build and lead a small team of Technical Program Managers (TPMs) to support dedicated deployments and ensure the smooth, reliable delivery of releases for client customers.
Lead technical program management for the delivery and lifecycle management of releases into dedicated client or agency instances, particularly where isolation, specialized configurations, heightened compliance, or custom integrations are required.
Oversee the strategy and execution of the dedicated deployments release process, managing cross-functional coordination, ensuring security, compliance, and operational standards are met, and delivering a seamless experience for enterprise and government clients.
Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, product, and operations teams to ensure releases are high-quality, timely, and aligned with Ontic’s overall product and cloud SaaS roadmap.
Develop a long-term playbook and roadmap for success to continuously improve delivery models, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction across dedicated deployments.
Skills & Qualifications
Strong technical background with a hands-on understanding of DevOps principles, infrastructure management, and deployment models in both multi-tenant and dedicated client environments.
Proven ability to manage complex technical programs, balancing ongoing project execution with evolving scope and emerging technical challenges.
Experience operationalizing deployment strategies, including developing playbooks, roadmaps, and scalable best practices for infrastructure, DevOps engagement, and release management.
Expertise in ensuring security, compliance, and operational readiness, particularly in high-stakes client environments involving API integrations, data encryption, and infrastructure readiness. Familiarity with security practices (vulnerability scanning, application & infrastructure patching, incident response, encryption, BYOK, IAM)
Demonstrated success in requirements gathering and discovery with potential clients to evaluate deployment suitability and design tailored implementation plans.
Skilled in project management of technical initiatives, including risk assessment, mitigation planning, and contingency development for enterprise deployments.
Proven ability to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable business terms for non-technical stakeholders, enabling faster and better-informed decision-making.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience coordinating across multiple teams (Sales, Engineering, DevOps, Client Success, and Account Management) to deliver on key milestones.
Ability to reduce operational load on technical teams by owning program management, stakeholder communications, and alignment of technical execution with business priorities.
Preferred Experience
12+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, with at least 5 years leading complex DevOps or infrastructure-focused initiatives.
Prior experience working in a SaaS, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise software environment.
Strong familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud environments and related DevOps tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).
Experience managing dedicated deployments for enterprise or government clients, with a deep understanding of compliance and data protection requirements (e.g., FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
Background in program governance, release management, and cross-functional leadership across distributed teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field; advanced degree a plus.
Ideal Candidate Attributes
Brings passion and energy to thrive in a fast-paced environment under cross-functional pressures.
Demonstrates a deep commitment to operational excellence and delivering seamless, reliable software releases.
Balances standardization and flexibility to meet diverse client-specific needs.
Combines a strategic mindset with strong hands-on execution capabilities.
Exhibits a collaborative leadership style that fosters trust and alignment across technical and business teams.
