What We're Looking For
Are you ready to push boundaries and create impact? We are looking for innovative, analytical thinkers who want to apply advanced technology to complex engineering problems.
You're an ideal candidate if you:
- Thrive in a fast moving environment with the freedom to experiment, adopt new tools, and help shape technical choices as the product evolves.
- Are highly motivated and committed to excellence.
- Bring an entrepreneurial mindset and a strong desire to learn.
- Are a builder and problem solver who takes ownership, adapts quickly, and makes an impact.
- Enjoy being part of an energetic team that knows how to celebrate success.
About the Role
You will own the outcome of diagnostics on Turbomechanica. Every alert the platform raises, and every fault it misses, is yours. As Manager of the Diagnostics Center of Excellence in Houston, you are accountable for our false positive and false negative rates across customer fleets.
This is a highly technical and hands-on manager role for a strong rotating equipment engineer. You will lead the diagnostics team and still dig into the hardest cases yourself. You will also lead customer alert reviews, write technical content, and support presales.
It suits a self-driven engineer who moves fast, wants to build something new, and enjoys wearing several hats at a growing startup.
What You'll Own
- Diagnostic outcomes: Own false positive and false negative rates, time to diagnosis, and the quality of every finding that reaches a customer.
- The team: Hire, lead, and develop the Houston diagnostics team.
- Investigations: Lead troubleshooting and root cause investigations on the toughest cases, using causal analysis to separate real degradation from process or instrumentation effects.
- Customer alert reviews: Lead regular alert review meetings with customer reliability, rotating equipment, and operations teams.
- Platform improvement: Read and challenge the physics code in Turbomechanica, and feed field experience to product and data science so we catch more real faults with fewer false alarms.
- Automation: Use AI tools such as Claude to automate diagnostic workflows and build small internal applications.
- Content and presales: Write technical content and case studies, and support technical presales on new opportunities.
What You Bring
- 10+ years as a rotating equipment engineer at an OEM or an owner-operator in the Oil & Gas, Chemical, Petrochemical, or Power industry.
- Real field experience commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting machines in operation.
- Deep expertise in at least one equipment type, ideally gas turbines, with working knowledge of centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, steam turbines, and pumps.
- A solid grasp of equipment performance, vibration, and how machines are controlled in the field.
- A track record of troubleshooting and root cause investigations, and familiarity with causal analysis.
- Significant exposure to predictive analytics or condition monitoring on plant data.
- Working knowledge of Python, enough to read and reason about engineering and physics code.
- Hands-on use of AI tools such as Claude to automate work or build small applications.
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers, and the confidence to present findings to senior customer engineers and managers.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Location
- Houston, Texas (hybrid), reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, with up to 15% travel.
- Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the United States.
What Success Looks Like in Year One
- False positive and false negative rates measured, reported, and falling across monitored assets.
- A staffed Houston team with documented standards for creation and maintenance of diagnostic algorithms.
- Customer alert review meetings that customers value and attend.
- Automated workflows that cut time to diagnosis.
- Published technical content and presales wins you helped close.
