About the role

As a social worker or counselor, you facilitate online therapy to adults and children with mental health and behavioral needs. This is an opportunity to positively impact lives while working from home in a collaborative environment. Our ideal Online Mental Health Counselor would embrace our values of care, collaboration, courage, impact, and trust.

Since we are supporting the counseling needs of teachers and school staff, counseling sessions will typically be after 4:00pm on the weekdays or on weekends. This is a part-time position expected to grow to 10 hours per week.

What you'll do

  • Provide high-quality online counseling services to mostly adults by phone or video.

  • Assess clients for suitability for short-term counseling.

  • Provide services with kindness, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude.

  • Collaborate in developing clear and concise treatment plans for clients.

  • Assessing and managing high-risk calls and working closely with individuals at risk.

  • Provide clear clinical documentation in our platform that supports progress towards their goals.

  • Initiate counseling and outpatient referrals.

  • Participate in meetings as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or Marriage or Family Counseling, or related field

  • Active mental health license in South Carolina (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LMHC, etc.) and in state of residence

  • 2+ years of experience in a mental health setting

  • Computer proficiency, solid typing skills

  • Reliable wi-fi/internet access and a distraction free work environment

  • Background working with various age groups

  • Crisis management experience

  • EAP experience preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent Technology & Computer proficiency, including the ability to learn new digital platforms.

  • Reliable Wi-Fi/Internet access.

  • Distraction-free work environment.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in day-to-day operations.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate a telephone and enter data into a computer.

  • Facility to sit at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Facility to see and read, with or without visual aids, laws and codes, rules, policies, and other printed matter, and computer screens and printouts with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Facility to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and to hear and understand speech on the telephone with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Facility to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal conversations, in training sessions, and in other meetings with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, work well under pressure, organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.

Compensation

This is an independent contractor position with a fee per service of $30-$55 per service.
