Company: AllVoices

Location: Remote

Engagement: Independent contractor, approximately 20 hours per week

Compensation: Up to $35 USD per hour, depending on experience

Initial term: 90 days, with potential to continue

Schedule: Regular overlap with our team’s U.S. Pacific working hours

About the role

AllVoices is looking for a hands-on technical contractor to support our Engineering, Technical Customer Success, Sales, and security review work.

You will make AWS configuration updates, help deploy dynamic QA environments, manage and track permissions, troubleshoot operational issues, and answer questions about our product’s security. You will also help organize incoming requests and document or automate recurring tasks.

You will work closely with our DevOps lead and CTO, gradually taking ownership of routine requests as you learn our environment.

What you’ll do

AWS and DevOps support

  • Make AWS configuration updates within approved procedures and your assigned access.
  • Help deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and retire dynamic QA environments used for development and testing.
  • Investigate infrastructure issues using logs, monitoring, and configuration details.
  • Triage the DevOps request queue and track requests through resolution.
  • Escalate complex issues with clear findings and recommended next steps.

Access and permissions management

  • Update user, service, and environment permissions based on approved requests.
  • Track access changes and maintain accurate records of permissions and approvals.
  • Support periodic access reviews and identify outdated or unnecessary access.
  • Follow least-privilege practices when granting or modifying access.

Technical Customer Success support

  • Help Technical Customer Success Managers investigate customer issues requiring infrastructure access or operational support.
  • Gather logs and technical evidence to help identify root causes.
  • Communicate findings clearly and coordinate follow-up with engineering.

Product security and customer reviews

  • Answer product security questions from Sales and Customer Success using approved documentation and verified technical information.
  • Investigate questions about access controls, encryption, hosting, data handling, and other product security capabilities.
  • Prepare initial customer security questionnaire responses and gather supporting evidence.
  • Track follow-up requests and coordinate with engineering when additional investigation is needed.
  • Maintain reusable answers and documentation, escalating questions that require a new commitment or leadership decision.

Documentation and automation

  • Create and maintain runbooks for recurring operational requests.
  • Write scripts or lightweight automation to reduce manual work.
  • Identify recurring issues and suggest practical improvements.

Our DevOps lead will guide technical work, and our CTO will set priorities and review security responses. Infrastructure decisions, sensitive production changes, and final security commitments will remain with those leads.

What we’re looking for

  • Practical experience configuring and supporting AWS infrastructure, including IAM, EC2, S3, networking, and monitoring.
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting development or QA environments.
  • Familiarity with Linux, application logs, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Experience managing permissions and documenting access changes.
  • Ability to write scripts in Python, Bash, or a similar language.
  • Strong written English and the ability to explain technical and security concepts clearly.
  • Ability to resolve routine requests independently after onboarding.
  • Good judgment about when to escalate or seek approval.
  • Strong organization and follow-through across multiple requests.
  • Availability for approximately 20 hours per week with consistent overlap during U.S. Pacific working hours.

Helpful experience

  • Pulumi or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • CI/CD pipelines and automated environment provisioning.
  • PostgreSQL and production application support.
  • Customer security questionnaires and technical evidence gathering.
  • SOC 2 or ISO 27001 environments.
  • Supporting Sales, Customer Success, or other customer-facing teams.

What success looks like

During the first 90 days, you will learn our environment and progressively take ownership of routine requests. Success means faster turnaround, accurate configuration and permission changes, reliable QA deployments, clear security answers, and documentation or automation that reduces recurring work.

We will review the arrangement after 90 days, with the opportunity to continue part-time and expand hours if the workload justifies it.
