AWS Connect & Lex Engineer (Contract)

Contract Duration: 8–12 weeks (with possible extension)
Commitment: Full-time
Location: Remote, Global

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced AWS Connect & Amazon Lex Engineer to help us design and implement a voice hotline solution for reporting company complaints. Each company we serve has its own structured complaint form, which may include conditional/branching logic. You will work alongside our internal engineering team (who will handle API integrations) and guide us on best practices for architecture, implementation, and compliance.

This is a hands-on contract role where you will own the Amazon Connect + Lex setup, implement the Lambda/infra logic for dynamic forms, and ensure the system is production-ready, scalable, and secure.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Implementation

    • Architect, configure, and deploy Amazon Connect contact flows and telephony setup.

    • Build and integrate Amazon Lex (V2) bots to support dynamic, branching complaint forms.

    • Implement AWS Lambda code hooks for handling conditional question flows and data persistence.

    • Set up DynamoDB/S3 or other AWS services to store form schemas, session data, and final submissions.

    • Enable Contact Lens (or other analytics tools) for redaction and compliance.

  • Integration & APIs

    • Work with our internal engineer(s) to integrate Connect/Lex outputs with our application APIs.

    • Advise on best practices for data handoff, webhook/event handling, and notifications.

  • Security & Compliance

    • Configure encryption, IAM roles, and data retention policies for sensitive complaint data.

    • Enable PII redaction and apply best practices for complaint data handling.

  • Advisory & Best Practices

    • Guide the team on architecture, scaling, and cost optimization for AWS Connect/Lex deployments.

    • Document workflows, provide knowledge transfer to our team, and support during pilot launch.

Requirements

  • Proven hands-on experience with Amazon Connect (contact flows, telephony, analytics) and Amazon Lex (V2).

  • Strong knowledge of AWS Lambda (Python/Node.js) for Lex dialog code hooks.

  • Familiarity with Contact Lens for PII redaction, call recording, and transcription.

  • Prior experience deploying production-ready voice/chatbots with AWS.

  • Strong understanding of security, compliance, and cost optimization in AWS.

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to advise and educate less experienced engineers.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with inbound/outbound telephony setups and call routing in Connect.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for AWS infrastructure (e.g., CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation).

  • Familiarity with customer service / complaint intake workflows.

  • Experience with HIPAA, SOC2, or GDPR compliance in AWS environments.

Deliverables

By the end of the engagement, we expect:

  • A fully functional complaint hotline using AWS Connect + Lex that supports multiple company-specific, conditional forms.

  • Secure and scalable backend (DynamoDB/S3/Lambda) for managing schemas and submissions.

  • Documentation and knowledge transfer to our internal engineering team.

  • Recommendations for ongoing monitoring, scaling, and cost management.
